容赦ない
Meaning
Merciless; relentless; unforgiving. Describes something that shows no leniency or compassion.
Formed from 容赦 (forgiveness, leniency) and ない (negation), 容赦ない literally means 'without mercy'. It modifies both people and impersonal forces — criticism, competition, heat, or time can all be described as 容赦ない when they give no quarter. The phrase 容赦なく (mercilessly) is the adverbial form and is equally common. Carries a strong negative valence when applied to people, but can be neutral or even admiring for natural forces.
