歳月
Meaning
Time; years; the passage of time. A literary expression for the months and years that go by.
A noun with a literary and reflective nuance, referring to the passage of time over months and years. More poetic than 時間 (jikan, time) or 年月 (nengetsu, years and months). Often used when reflecting on the long passage of time and its effects. Appears in the well-known proverb 歳月人を待たず (saigetsu hito wo matazu, time waits for no one).
