Meaning
In the twinkling of an eye; in a flash; in an instant. Describes something happening with extreme speed.
An adverbial phrase literally meaning 'in the time it takes to blink.' Composed of 瞬く (matataku, to blink/twinkle) + 間に (ma ni, in the interval of). Emphasises how quickly something happened, often with a sense of amazement. Similar to あっという間に but slightly more literary and dramatic.
