Meaning

A phrase meaning 'because' or 'given that,' used when the speaker or writer considers the stated reason to be a natural or expected basis for the resulting situation.

とあって introduces a reason that the speaker views as making the resulting situation entirely expected or understandable. It often appears in journalistic or narrative writing to explain why a particular outcome is unsurprising. For example, 'given that it was a holiday, the park was crowded' — the crowdedness is a natural consequence of the holiday. It differs from ので or から in that it implies the speaker has already assessed the reason and finds the result logical. It typically describes objective, observable situations rather than personal decisions. The pattern cannot be used with volitional or imperative endings. Learners sometimes confuse it with とあっては, which adds a conditional nuance.
