Intellectual; showing intelligence and refined thinking. Describes an impression of cultivated intellect.
A na-adjective describing someone or something that gives an impression of refined intelligence and thoughtfulness. Often used for personal appearance, demeanour, or atmosphere: 知性的な顔立ち (an intellectual face), 知性的な雰囲気 (an intellectual atmosphere). Focuses on the outward impression of intelligence rather than actual intellectual ability (which is better expressed by 知的). Slightly more literary and less common than 知的.
