Meaning

Directions; instructions; orders; commands given to someone.

A noun and する verb (指図する) meaning to give orders or direct someone. Unlike the neutral 指示 (instructions), 指図 often carries a bossy or overbearing tone. Frequently used when someone resents being told what to do. The expression 指図されるのが嫌い is very common.
