Meaning

Natural selection; elimination of the unfit; weeding out. The process by which weaker or inferior elements are removed through competition or natural forces.

The verb forms are 淘汰される (to be weeded out) and 淘汰する (to eliminate). It carries a neutral or clinical tone rather than a moral one.
