素質
Meaning
Aptitude; talent; natural disposition. An innate capacity or inclination that determines potential.
A noun referring to inborn qualities that give a person a natural advantage in a particular area. 素質がある (to have a natural aptitude) is a common positive expression. It emphasises inherent potential rather than acquired skill, setting it apart from 才能 (talent) which can be nurtured. 素質を見出す (to identify innate talent) is common in educational and sporting contexts.
