左翼
Meaning
Left wing; left-wing; liberal. Describes political ideology favouring social equality, workers' rights, and progressive reform.
A broader ideological label than 左派, 左翼 encompasses the entire spectrum of left-leaning political thought including socialism, communism, and social democracy. In Japan it can carry a strong connotation of anti-war activism and labour movements. Often contrasted with 右翼 (right wing).
