追証
Meaning
Margin call; a demand from a broker or exchange for an investor to deposit additional funds to cover losses in a leveraged position.
A noun short for 追加証拠金 (tsuika shōkokin — additional margin deposit). When the value of a leveraged trading position falls below the maintenance margin level, the investor receives a 追証 notice and must deposit more funds or face forced liquidation. Common in futures, FX margin trading, and margin stock accounts. Receiving a 追証 is a high-stress event for leveraged traders.
