Meaning

One's final end; ultimate fate; ruin or downfall. Almost always used to describe a pitiful or ignominious conclusion to a life or career.

A noun with a distinctly pessimistic connotation. 末路 nearly always implies a wretched or ruinous conclusion, as in 悲惨な末路 ('a miserable end') or 孤独な末路 ('a lonely fate'). Used in journalism, biography, and literature when describing the tragic outcome of a person or regime. Positive finales use entirely different vocabulary.
