Meaning

An adverb meaning 'surely,' 'no doubt,' or 'I can only imagine,' used when the speaker empathetically infers that someone must be experiencing a strong emotion or condition. It expresses sympathetic conjecture about another's feelings.

さぞ (and its emphatic variant さぞかし) is used when the speaker projects themselves into another person's situation and imagines how intense their experience must be. It almost always refers to someone else's feelings, not the speaker's own. It typically pairs with ～だろう, ～でしょう, ～ことだろう, or ～に違いない. The longer form さぞかし is slightly more literary and emphatic.
