In season; peak season. The best time of year for particular foods, or the prime period for something.
A noun describing the peak season when foods are at their freshest, most flavourful, and most affordable. Central to Japanese food culture, where eating seasonal ingredients (旬の食材) is highly valued. Also used figuratively to describe someone or something at the height of their popularity or prime, as in 旬の俳優 (a currently popular actor). Can modify nouns directly: 旬の魚 (fish in season).
