ローマ字 shimensoka
漢字の分解 四 (shi) — four; 面 (men) — face, side; 楚 (so) — Chu (state); 歌 (ka) — song

意味

Being surrounded by enemies on all sides; total isolation. A state in which one faces opposition or hostility from every direction with no allies.

A yojijukugo (four-character idiom) derived from the story of the Chu warlord Xiang Yu at the Battle of Gaixia. Hearing songs from his homeland sung by the surrounding Han troops, he realised his forces had been defeated.
