Meaning

To employ; to hire. To take on someone as a worker or staff member.

A Group 3 (irregular) する-verb. Used in formal and business contexts for hiring employees: 正社員として雇用する (employ as a full-time worker), 新卒を雇用する (hire new graduates). More formal than 雇う (yatou, to hire), which is the everyday equivalent. 雇用する emphasises the institutional or contractual nature of the employment.
