陳謝
Meaning
Apology. A formal, often public apology expressing deep regret.
A noun and suru-verb for making a very formal apology. Even more formal and humble than 謝罪 (shazai, apology) — 陳謝 implies laying out the circumstances and expressing remorse publicly. Almost exclusively used in official and institutional contexts: politicians, company executives, and public figures 陳謝する when they have caused problems. Common patterns include 陳謝する (to formally apologise), 深く陳謝する (to deeply apologise), and 国民に陳謝する (to apologise to the public).
