Meaning
Extremely; exceedingly; to the utmost degree. An emphatic adverb indicating the highest possible level of intensity or significance.
An adverb derived from the te-form of 極める (Group 2/ichidan — to master, to reach the extreme). Used to intensify adjectives and predicates in a way comparable to 非常に (very), but more formal and emphatic. Prevalent in academic writing, official statements, and analytical commentary where precision and register are valued.
