放り出す
Meaning
To throw out; to abandon; to give up on; to cast aside.
A Group 1 (godan) compound verb from 放る (horu, throw/cast) + 出す (dasu, put out). Means both literally tossing something outside and figuratively abandoning a responsibility mid-way: 仕事を放り出す (to walk out on a job), 家族を放り出す (to abandon one's family). The nuance of irresponsibility or callousness is usually implicit.
