盛り上がる
Meaning
To swell up; to rise; to become lively or exciting; to build up in atmosphere or emotion.
A Group 1 (godan) verb. Physically describes something swelling or rising (terrain, muscles, dough). In colloquial and social contexts — and extremely commonly — it describes a gathering or conversation becoming lively and animated (パーティーが盛り上がる). Also used for emotional climax or narrative build-up.
