擬態
Meaning
Mimicry; camouflage; biological disguise. The evolutionary adaptation in which an organism resembles another organism or its environment to gain a survival advantage.
A biological noun covering Batesian mimicry (where a harmless species resembles a harmful one) and cryptic coloration. Used in entomology, zoology, and ecology. Also extended metaphorically in social commentary to describe a person or organisation that pretends to be something it is not. Distinct from 保護色 (protective coloration), though related in mechanism.
