ガン無視
Meaning
Completely ignoring someone on purpose; giving someone the total cold shoulder.
ガン無視 describes deliberately and conspicuously ignoring someone — not just casually overlooking them, but making it obvious that you are refusing to acknowledge their existence. It combines ガン (an onomatopoeic intensifier) with 無視 (to ignore). The behaviour can be a form of social punishment, passive aggression, or simply wanting nothing to do with someone.
Examples
- LINEしたのにガン無視されたんだけど、嫌われてる? I sent them a LINE message and got completely ignored — do they hate me?
- 挨拶したのにガン無視とかありえなくない? I said hello and got totally ignored — can you believe that?
- 元カレと会ったけどお互いガン無視した。 I ran into my ex but we both completely ignored each other.
