読み ひじゅん
ローマ字 hijun
漢字の分解 批 (hi) — formally endorse, critique; 准 (jun) — approve, authorise
発音 /çidʑɯɴ/

意味

Ratification; the formal approval of an international treaty or agreement by a state's authorised body, rendering it legally binding.

A legal and diplomatic term used specifically for the formal endorsement of international agreements. In Japan, treaty 批准 typically requires cabinet approval and, for major treaties, Diet ratification. Signing (署名) a treaty is only a preliminary step; until 批准 occurs, the agreement carries no binding legal force in domestic or international law. 批准書 (instrument of ratification) is the official document exchanged between states.
