暴行

Japanese JLPT N1 Vocabulary Japanese ★★★ 3/5 formal ぼうこうboko
読み ぼうこう
ローマ字 boko
漢字の分解 暴 (bo) — violent, reckless; 行 (ko) — act, conduct
発音 /boː.koː/

意味

Assault; violence; attack. The use of physical force against another person; a criminal act of physical violence.

A formal legal and journalistic term for assault or battery. In Japanese criminal law, 暴行罪 (crime of assault) covers acts of physical force that do not necessarily result in injury — if injury occurs, the charge escalates to 傷害罪 (bodily injury). 暴行 is also used in compound expressions: 性的暴行 (sexual assault), 集団暴行 (gang assault). In news media, 暴行を加える (to commit assault upon) is a standard phrasing. Distinct from 暴力 in that 暴行 refers specifically to a criminal act in legal contexts.

例文

  1. 被疑者は被害者に暴行を加え、全治二週間のけがを負わせたとして逮捕された。
  2. 深夜の路上で見知らぬ男から暴行を受けたという被害届が警察に提出された。
  3. 暴行事件の映像がSNS上に拡散し、目撃した多くの市民が当局に通報した。
