~こそ
意味
An emphatic particle that strongly emphasizes a specific word, phrase, or clause, conveying the idea of 'precisely,' 'exactly,' or 'it is ~ that.'
こそ adds strong emphasis to the element it follows, singling it out as the most important or relevant thing. It is often translated as 'it is precisely ~ that' or '~ above all.' A classic use is in こちらこそ (it is I who should say that), used when returning thanks or apologies. こそ replaces は and が, but can follow other particles. It creates a sense of exclusivity — this and nothing else. It is particularly common in motivational or emotional contexts, such as 'Now is precisely the time to act.'

起源と歴史
From classical Japanese こそ, a kakari-musubi emphatic particle that required the predicate to be in the izen-kei (realis) form. In modern Japanese, this grammatical requirement has disappeared but the emphatic function remains.
