种
Meaning
Kind; type; sort. A measure word used to classify different varieties, types, or categories of things.
One of the most frequently used measure words in Chinese. Classifies types or categories rather than individual items. Used with abstract and concrete nouns alike (一种方法, a kind of method; 一种水果, a kind of fruit; 一种感觉, a kind of feeling). Note: when pronounced zhòng (4th tone), it means 'to plant/grow' — a different word entirely.
