就是 (emphasis)
含义
The phrase 就是 (jiùshì) is used for emphatic identification or insistence. It means 'precisely,' 'exactly,' or 'it is indeed' and stresses that something is specifically what is being identified.
就是 has several emphatic functions. First, it can identify something with certainty: 他就是我们的新老师 (He is precisely our new teacher). Second, it can express insistence or stubbornness: 我就是不想去 (I simply don't want to go). Third, it can mean 'the problem is' or 'it's just that' to introduce a reservation: 就是有点贵 (It's just a bit expensive). The emphasis comes from 就, which narrows focus, combined with 是 (to be). Learners should note that 就是 as emphasis differs from 就是说 (that is to say) and from the concessive use 就是...也 (even if).
