Meaning

Title; the name of a book, film, song, or championship.

A katakana loanword from English 'title.' Used broadly for the name of creative works (映画のタイトル, movie title), championship titles in sports (タイトルを獲得する, to win a title), and headings in documents. In gaming, タイトル画面 (title screen) is standard. While 題名 (daimei) and 表題 (hyoudai) exist as native alternatives, タイトル is overwhelmingly common in casual and media contexts.
