ほっと
Meaning
To feel relieved; with relief. An expression describing the release of tension or worry.
An adverb and suru verb (ほっとする, to feel relieved). An onomatopoeic word mimicking the sigh of relief. Almost always written in hiragana. Very commonly used in everyday conversation: ほっとした (I was relieved), ほっとする瞬間 (a moment of relief). Can also describe a warm, comforting feeling: ほっとする味 (a comforting flavour).
