転居
Meaning
Moving; changing residence; change of address. The act of relocating one's home.
A noun and suru-verb (intransitive) that is more formal than 引っ越し (hikkoshi, moving house). Commonly used in official documents, postal services, and administrative contexts. You will encounter 転居届 (tenkyo todoke, change-of-address notification) when dealing with municipal offices or the post office. Less casual than 引っ越し, which is preferred in everyday conversation.
