反芻
Meaning
Rumination; deep pondering; chewing the cud. The act of repeatedly going over something in one's mind to extract deeper understanding.
A verbal noun (する verb). Literally refers to ruminant animals chewing their cud, but almost always used figuratively in modern Japanese to mean repeatedly reflecting on or mulling over an experience, idea, or lesson. 言葉を反芻する (to turn words over in one's mind), 経験を反芻する (to reflect on an experience).

- 師の言葉を何度も反芻するうちに、その深い意味がわかってきた。 As I turned my mentor's words over in my mind again and again, their deeper meaning gradually became clear.
