意味

Coinage; neologism; coined word. The creation of a new word or expression, or the word so created.

A noun and verb (造語する). Refers both to the act of creating new words and to the newly formed words themselves. Japanese has a rich tradition of 造語, especially during the Meiji period when scholars coined thousands of terms to translate Western concepts (e.g., 哲学 for 'philosophy,' 民主主義 for 'democracy').
