Meaning

So that; resulting in; causing. A conjunction introducing a consequence — typically undesirable or serious — that follows directly from the preceding situation.

Slightly more formal than 以至于 and more consistently negative in connotation. Emphasises direct causation leading to an unwanted result. Common in formal writing, news reports, and official documents.
