Meaning

Besides; moreover; what's more. A conjunction adding additional supporting reasons.

Used to introduce an additional point that strengthens the previous argument. Often comes after making one case and adding an even stronger reason. Similar to 'furthermore' or 'besides' in English.

Examples

  1. 这个方案成本太高,况且时间也来不及。 This plan is too expensive, and besides, there's not enough time.

  • 用况且开始一个没有前文的句子。(况且 adds to a previous point — don't use it as the first argument)
