鹤立鸡群
Meaning
Like a crane standing among chickens; to stand head and shoulders above others in talent, appearance, or achievement. To be conspicuously superior to those around one.
A classical idiom traceable to the Jin dynasty, later popularised through the Tang historical record 晋书. It is used to praise someone whose outstanding qualities set them clearly apart from their peers. Can refer to intellect, character, appearance, or achievement. Generally carries an admiring or complimentary tone, though it can occasionally imply the loneliness of exceptional distinction.
