就算

Meaning

Even if; even though. A conjunction expressing a concessive condition.

Similar to 即使 but slightly more colloquial. Used to introduce a hypothetical or real condition that doesn't change the outcome. Often paired with 也 in the main clause (就算...也...). Can express determination or resignation depending on context.

1. 就算下刀子我也要去，这次机会太难得了。 Even if it's raining knives, I'm still going — this opportunity is too rare.
