Meaning
If; in case; supposing that. A colloquial conditional conjunction.
A casual and spoken alternative to 如果 for expressing hypothetical or conditional situations. It is slightly more informal than 如果 and is very common in daily conversation. Often paired with 就 in the result clause. Can be used interchangeably with 如果 in most spoken contexts.

Don't Say
- 要是根据合同规定...(Don't use 要是 in formal or written contexts — use 如果 or 若 instead. 要是 is too casual for contracts or official documents.)
