Meaning
Reading; pronunciation; interpretation. The act or way of reading something.
A noun derived from the verb 読む (yomu, to read). Refers to the reading or pronunciation of characters, or the interpretation of a situation. In kanji study, 音読み (on'yomi, Chinese reading) and 訓読み (kun'yomi, Japanese reading) are essential concepts. Also used strategically: 読みが深い (to have deep foresight) and 読みが外れる (one's prediction was wrong).
