血栓
Meaning
Blood clot; thrombus; an abnormal clot that forms inside a blood vessel and can obstruct blood flow.
A critical medical term for thrombosis-related conditions. Blood clots (血栓) can cause life-threatening events such as 心筋梗塞 (myocardial infarction) and 脳梗塞 (stroke/cerebral infarction) when they block arteries, or 肺塞栓症 (pulmonary embolism) when they travel to the lungs. 血栓症 refers to thrombosis as a broader condition.
