箱推し
Meaning
Supporting an entire group equally rather than having one specific favorite member — being a fan of the whole 'box.'
箱推し means loving every member of a group without singling out one as your 推し. The 箱 (box) metaphor refers to the group as a whole unit. This approach is considered wholesome and unifying, as 箱推し fans celebrate every member equally. It contrasts with 単推し (supporting only one member) and avoids the inter-fandom tensions that can arise from member-specific support.
Examples
- 箱推しだからメンバー全員のグッズ買ってる。 I support everyone in the group so I buy merch for every member.
- 箱推しの人ってライブめちゃくちゃ楽しそう。 People who support the whole group seem like they have so much fun at concerts.
- 箱推しでいたいけど最近一人に寄ってきてる。 I want to stay a whole-group fan, but lately I've been gravitating toward one member.
