引喩
意味
Allusion; a literary reference. An indirect reference to a person, event, work, or idea that the reader is expected to recognise.
A noun for the rhetorical device of allusion — invoking shared cultural or literary knowledge without spelling it out. Effective allusion creates resonance between the new text and the referenced source, enriching meaning for readers who grasp the connection. In classical Japanese literature, allusion to Chinese classics (漢籍) and prior Japanese texts (本歌取り in waka poetry) was a mark of erudition. Distinguishing 引喩 from 暗喩 is important: 暗喩 is a metaphor; 引喩 is a reference to an external source.
