悠久
Meaning
Long-standing; of great historical depth; stretching far back in time. Describes civilisations, traditions, cultures, or relationships of considerable antiquity.
Almost exclusively used to describe positive or neutral things of great age: 历史悠久 (long history), 悠久的文明 (ancient civilisation), 悠久的传统 (age-old tradition). Not used for negative phenomena growing over time. Carries a tone of admiration and cultural pride. A near-synonym is 源远流长 (with deep roots and long flow — also implies continuous vitality).

Don't Say
- 我们的友谊很悠久 — 悠久 normally describes civilisations, traditions, or historical records of centuries; for a personal friendship of a few years or even decades, 长久 or 多年 is more appropriate; 悠久 implies historical-scale depth
