  • 喜出望外 for minor pleasantness or mild satisfaction — it implies a notably strong emotional response to an unexpected positive outcome; for mild pleasant surprises use 出乎意料 or 没想到; overusing 喜出望外 for trivial matters dilutes its emotional weight
