Meaning

Share; quota; portion. A designated or calculated proportion of a total, especially in economic or resource-allocation contexts.

Primarily an economic and administrative term. 市场份额 (market share) is the most common collocation. Also used in resource allocation, investment, emissions quotas, and institutional distribution. More formal than 份 alone.
