Meaning

To interview; to conduct an interview. A structured or semi-structured conversation in which information, opinions, or experiences are elicited from a person, typically by a journalist, researcher, or broadcaster.

While 采访 emphasises on-the-spot news-gathering, 访谈 often refers to longer, more in-depth conversations such as talk shows, documentary interviews, or qualitative research interviews. Common forms: 访谈节目、专题访谈、深度访谈.

  • 访谈 and 采访 are not always interchangeable — 采访 emphasises news-gathering on location, while 访谈 refers more to structured conversational interviews; do not use 访谈 where 采访 is the expected term in breaking-news journalism
