计 = 讠+ 十 (speech + ten — to count); 较 = 车 + 交 (vehicle + cross — to compare)
含义
To haggle over; to take issue with; to be particular about. Also: to weigh up and compare. Often implies being petty or overly meticulous about minor matters.
Can be neutral (carefully weigh options) but is most commonly used negatively (nitpicking, haggling over trifles). The phrase 不计较 (not to mind/not to quibble) is especially common.
语境: interpersonal, workplace, daily life
(A truly magnanimous leader does not quibble with subordinates over verbal offences but instead focuses on the team's overall direction and long-term goals.)
(During the resource-constrained early stages of a start-up, if partners quibble over every minute detail of equity distribution, they tend to consume a great deal of energy that could otherwise be devoted to business development.)
- 计较 should not replace 计划 or 考虑; 计较 specifically means to quibble or scrutinise petty details, not simply 'to consider'
