学習
Meaning
Study; learning. The systematic process of acquiring knowledge or skills.
A noun that also functions as a suru verb (学習する). More formal and systematic than 勉強 (benkyou), which implies effort and hard work. 学習 focuses on the acquisition process itself and is used in educational and technical contexts: 学習塾 (cram school), 学習能力 (learning ability), 機械学習 (machine learning). Also used in psychology for behavioural learning.
