概要

この章では「Science & Technology」というテーマにまとまって出てくる基本語彙を学びます。単語をばらばらに覚えるのではなく、場面といっしょに定着させるための構成です。

このまとまりを身につけると、その話題について話すときの語彙が増え、読むときも聞くときも反応しやすくなります。

1. 理論 りろん Theory; a systematic framework of ideas explaining a phenomenon or set of facts.
2. 仮説 かせつ Hypothesis; supposition; assumption. A tentative explanation proposed for further investigation.
3. 証明 しょうめい Proof; verification; demonstration; certification. The act of establishing the truth of something.
4. 発見 はっけん Discovery; detection; finding. The act of finding or uncovering something previously unknown.
5. 発明 はつめい Invention; the creation of a new device, method, or process that did not previously exist.
6. データ データ Data; factual information used for analysis, reference, or calculation.
7. 分析 ぶんせき Analysis; the detailed examination of something in order to understand its nature or determine its essential features.
8. 統計 とうけい Statistics; the collection, analysis, and interpretation of numerical data.
9. エネルギー エネルギー Energy; the capacity to do work. Used for both physical energy and vitality.
10. 電力 でんりょく Electric power; the rate at which electrical energy is generated or consumed.
11. 原子力 げんしりょく Atomic energy; nuclear power. Energy released from the nucleus of atoms.
12. 太陽光 たいようこう Sunlight; solar light. The light emitted by the sun.
13. 物理 ぶつり Physics; the laws of nature. The branch of science concerned with matter, energy, and their interactions.
14. 生物 せいぶつ Living thing; organism; creature. Any entity that has life.
15. 工学 こうがく Engineering; the branch of science and technology concerned with design, building, and use of machines and structures.
16. コンピュータ コンピュータ Computer; an electronic device for storing, processing, and retrieving data.
17. インターネット インターネット Internet; the global computer network providing a variety of information and communication facilities.
18. ソフトウェア ソフトウェア Software; programs and operating information used by a computer.
19. システム システム System; an organized set of principles or procedures according to which something is done.
20. 人工知能 じんこうちのう Artificial intelligence; AI. Computer systems able to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence.
21. ロボット ロボット Robot; a machine capable of carrying out complex actions automatically.
22. 通信 つうしん Communication; correspondence; transmission; telecommunications. The exchange of information over a distance.
23. 情報 じょうほう Information; news; report; intelligence. Facts or details about a subject.
24. 処理 しょり Processing; handling; treatment; disposal. The act of dealing with or managing something systematically.
25. 照明 しょうめい Illumination; lighting. The arrangement or provision of light in a space.
