思前想后
Meaning
To think over and over; to weigh up all angles repeatedly before making a decision. Describes prolonged deliberation that considers both past circumstances and future consequences.
Often implies a degree of hesitation or indecisiveness resulting from excessive rumination, though it can also simply describe careful, thorough consideration. Used in contexts where a difficult decision must be made, or where someone cannot stop mentally revisiting a problem. Slightly more literary in register.
