儒学
Meaning
Confucian learning; Confucian studies. The academic and intellectual tradition of studying, interpreting, and transmitting the teachings of Confucianism.
While 儒家 refers to Confucianism as a philosophical school, 儒学 emphasises the academic study, textual scholarship, and intellectual tradition associated with it. Includes classical text interpretation, ritual studies, and neo-Confucian developments. In modern universities, 儒学 is studied within Chinese philosophy and humanities departments.
