Meaning
Situation; predicament; the circumstances one finds oneself in.
Refers to the objective situation or predicament a person or group is in — often difficult or constrained. Synonymous with 处境 but slightly more literary and formal. Frequently appears in the phrase 陷入境地 (to fall into a predicament) or 走投无路的境地 (a dead-end situation). More static than 处境.

- 受疫情影响,许多中小企业陷入了资金链断裂的困难境地。 Affected by the pandemic, many small and medium-sized enterprises fell into a difficult predicament of broken cash flow.

Don't Say
- 我今天的境地很开心。(境地 implies a constrained or serious situation — it doesn't naturally describe a pleasant state)
